Language travel Spain

This meant that 20 curious German students met 10 Spanish students who had already got to know each other beforehand in a video conference. Our programme mainly revolved around the topics of art and industrialization. We visited two art museums and saw real Picasso sculptures, for example. But we also walked through poorer parts of the city that were or still are looking for new economic opportunities, especially after industrialization.

Our hotel was right on the beach, which was wonderful, but we had to walk two kilometers uphill and downhill to school every morning. We were usually busy with lessons and excursions until 3pm, after which many students met up outside of school and had a great time. In the evening, they had dinner together in the Spanish families, a very special experience!

Now we are back in Germany in the fall, but we are already looking forward to the Spanish children's return visit to the Erzgebirge. This is already taking place from 26.11.-01.12.23, because the Spanish children wanted to come to us in the run-up to Christmas - a very good idea. We have already planned a lot of activities for this week, such as making our own smoked candles, going to the industrial museum and the Striezelmarkt. The Spanish children will be staying with the German children, which will be another new experience.

Our trip was a welcome change from everyday school life and a great opportunity to practise the second foreign language we had learned. When this was not possible, the children communicated wonderfully in English.
