Frequently asked questions

Our schools are "state-recognized alternative schools". This means that we teach according to the Saxon curriculum and therefore our pupils take the same state examination as all other grammar school and secondary school pupils in Saxony.

They distract from lessons. During the break, the children should communicate with each other or relax and not play on their cell phones.

If contact is necessary, the telephone in the secretary's office is available or a teacher can be contacted.

There is no after-school care from Year 5 onwards. However, various all-day activities are available after school. If a pupil has to wait for the bus, they can also stay in the school club after informing a teacher present in the afternoon.

In grades 5-12, the class teacher has one class leader lesson per week to discuss organizational matters.

Please cancel by telephone before the first lesson and remember to cancel the meal. A written excuse must be submitted later.

Everyone is responsible for catching up on the missed material. Ideally, a reliable classmate should be assigned as a tutor. For more extensive absences, notes can also be copied at school.

Once a week there is a make-up date for missed work. The students attend the appointment following the end of the sick leave on their own. If several papers have to be made up, the dates must be arranged individually with the relevant subject teacher.

Up to three days of illness, a written excuse from the parent or legal guardian must be submitted. From a sickness period of more than three days, a sick bill from the doctor. Deviations from this rule, e.g. in the case of frequent absences, can be decided by the class teacher. In the case of announced performance assessments, a sick bill is required from the first day.

Yes, because children need and want exercise. What's more, fresh air is good for them and breakfast tastes even better. If the weather is very bad, it is possible to stay in the school club or foyer.

Usually 30 minutes, which varies according to the lunch offer, as we have a rhythmic start to the lesson.
Yes, a locker can be rented in the school where work equipment that is not always needed can be stored. In consultation with the subject teachers, it is also possible to store books in the subject room.
Every pupil should be involved in extracurricular activities. We offer many opportunities for this. Participation in remedial lessons and/or homework supervision is also part of the all-day program. Participation is compulsory after registration. Only in absolutely necessary exceptional cases and with a prior written excuse from the parents will your child be released.

There are no plans to change in the current school year, as the number of participants per GTA is limited. In exceptional cases, a change can be made after prior consultation with the head of the GTA attended or the head of the planned GTA. However, the change must be confirmed in writing to the secretary's office in an informal letter.

This is always at the discretion of the teacher. Generally, homework is done in the after-school care center. However, there is also long-term homework such as creating posters, learning poems or preparing presentations, which must of course be done together with the parents at home. The same applies to studying for major class tests.

The assessment scale is standardized for the SIS schools and is based on the provisions of the school regulations in Saxony. It can be viewed with the subject teacher or is handed out by the class teacher.

The basis for awarding the top marks (conduct, diligence, cooperation, order) is the regulation of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture on grammar schools in the Free State of Saxony. Each subject teacher submits his or her proposal, the grading conference then discusses any disputes and the final grades are determined.

Collection can only take place after the official issue date and by prior arrangement with the secretary's office.

There are several possibilities, e.g. membership of the school support association, support at festivals and celebrations, help with work assignments, donations of money or materials or with your own creative ideas.
