SOL - our new concept

Starting this school year, the International Gymnasium Niederwürschnitz is trying out Self-Organized Learning, or SOL for short, in grades 9 and 10.

The methodological and didactic changeover is inspired by various visits by members of the school management and teachers to the Alemannenschule in Wutöschingen, a pioneering school in terms of modern education and school design in Baden-Württemberg. The aim is to encourage our pupils to work in a more independent and goal-oriented way.

This involved a lot of painting, furnishing and decorating during the vacations. Two modern, friendly classrooms were created with more individual furniture, space and opportunities for movement, development and more varied learning. New desks and seating were purchased, two "input" rooms were set up with modern panels and high tables, and extensive classroom libraries were added to complement the digital textbooks. The comfortable whispering sofas in the corridors are particularly popular.

With our new and future sixth form floor, our A-level students in the coming years have been given their own personal learning environment, which they can design, maintain and change under their own direction and responsibility. The new rooms were enthusiastically taken over by classes 9g and 10g.
