Successful "Social Days"

Inspired by Clean-Up Day, a worldwide day of action to clean up the environment, pupils from class 10g at our grammar school and class 9b at our secondary school took a commendable initiative in the last few days of school before the summer vacations to clear the Würschnitz here in Niederwürschnitz of litter and pollution.

With zeal and determination, they worked together to protect their natural resources and set an impressive example of environmental awareness and civic engagement. In cooperation with the municipality of Niederwürschnitz, which provided trailers, buckets and wheelbarrows for cleaning the stream, various items of garbage as well as large branches and bricks were cleared away. However, a hubcap, garden shears, various bottles and pieces of glass as well as some metal and old, destroyed sandbags were also found in the Würschnitz. In addition to this clean-up campaign, more of these "Social Days" are to follow as part of our Fit for Life concept in order to increase the pupils' sense of responsibility for the environment, among other things.
